The Significance of the Slopes

 

CODA wants to redesignate the two parcels just north of Cougar Ridge and east of 85th St from Special Purpose Future Urban Dev elopment . to Sp ecial Purp ose - Community Institution District (S-CI) to allow future development of the Centre of Human Values, a retreat and teaching facility with a small dormitory component.
The major concerns are that this area isn't included in the COP Outline Plan and there is no information and detail such as would be included with an Outline Plan even though Stantec and CODA have had many years of involvement on the Slopes to understand the kinds of issues and concerns and the vast majority of these land parcels are on Slopes.
There is no building site location shown or any information - just a map outlining the land. From the City circulation and a meeting with Shawn Small, we were able to glean a little more information such as there being 893 parking stalls proposed!
None of the usual studies or reports for development on the edge of the Slopes have been supplied such as a BIA or identification of ER lands, etc, etc.

We are deeply disappointed by the lack of consultation by CODA on this and h opefully this will change and the proposal will be included and addressed as part of the Outline Plan for #2 on the previous page.
